yeah man its totally worth picking up esp if you're interested in the style. choosing death is ok but as you said very america-centric, which kind of makes sense as an intro as its where the genre began and where the most popular bands are from, but the scene immediately grew onto pretty much all continents except for africa and antarctica, and each regional scene quickly developed their own unique sound, so focusing solely on the american bands presents only a small portion of the big picture

Are You Morbid? Yes, he's extremely embarrased of Hellhammer in that book. But his documentation of life on the road and his anecdote about getting an HIV test are priceless.

i want to state that i think the first unleashed record is my favorite swedish dm record of all time, possibly tied with like an ever flowing stream. i just dont know. i've been meaning to check out TGW's book, hopefully i'll be able to pick it up soon.
