Karebear once threatened to tell everyone that I listen to rap...a lot. I'll save him the trouble here.
All I've listened to today and for the past couple days has been RA The Rugged Man and Royce Da 5'9.. Also, new Vinnie Paz featuring RA video came out a couple days ago, awesome video for one of the best songs on the Paz solo album. The video got me listening to that album a little more again too. I usually think music videos are stupid and I actually really enjoy watching this one.

MF Doom could possibly be the most overrated MC of this generation next to Dr. Octagon. Both have been on one good album (not great---good). And both have released over a dozen it feels like. WHACK ASS SHIT.
Jay-Z is king. That's hip hop rule #1.

Cool, you are crazy. One of the top 10 singles of the 90s is "Always Be My Sunshine." Reasonable Doubt is one of the greatest hip hop debuts ever. Black Album is superb. How could you hate on Jay-Z? OR What hip hop do you dig on?

Yeah Drucker, you're wrong. Reasonable Doubt was great...but it also might as well have been a second rate Big L album. After he stopped ripping off Big L's flow he went downhill extremely fast. He also bit Rugged Man (both a line and entire flow) in that new song with Kanye West and whoever else.

Jay Z still ushered in an awesome swagger with that album that's unmatched. I would never argue that anything he ever did touched "Lifestylez of da Poor and Dangerous," but that album is a high enough bar that maybe ...6 albums...7 albums have ever touched in Rap history? I'm not saying he's been consistent, but his best stuff remains brilliant, and as an entity, he remains in my opinion one of the final great MCs that comes from the old school.
Have you read that he's got a new posthumous release coming out?

i wasnt saying doom is the best ever , im just saying i like him compared to most other mc's , he speaks at a pace i like and is normally just saying rhymes that are jokes that are funny and of topic i dunno gdp is the closest rapper i think i have heard to him "style" not "sound" wise or at least i find both of them funny/enjoyable

i generally don't care for rap, but i listened to Vinyl Fantasy VII by team teamwork which is remix mash up type things (which i also generally don't like) but its rap songs with final fantasy vii music and it has Ante Up over the FF7 battle music and it might be the hardest song ive ever heard

Don't know some of that, but really can't stand Common, or Common Sense.
Pete Rock and CL Smooth-Mecca And The Soul Brother is PERFECT (save "Lots of Lovin'")

ya havent been listening to much hip hop lately, but the odd future kids have been playing a lot in my car. i think www.oddfuture.blogspot.com or tumblr or some shit, they are all like 17 yr old skate rats in california who do drugs and rap about killing people, fucking girls, and doing drugs. i was sold. that earl track is perfect, "HIT YOU WITH AN UPPERCUT MY DICK IS HAVING GUTS FOR LUNCH" anyway, ya blah blah blah a buncha people are gonna argue what their into, then someone says a bunch of classic stuff. everyone likes what they like.
