I know its late, but I decided last minute to try and watch as many horror movies as possible this month. I know this is a regular thing. What are you watching? What are you trying to watch? Suggest things, review things, etc.
Maximum Overdrive - Bought the dvd years ago but still haven't seen it since I was a kid. Just as ridiculous as I remember. Emilio Estevez saves a town from trucks and electronics that come to life...what more is there? Favorite scene is a soda vending machine taking out an entire little league baseball team.
Demons - Such a cool concept for a movie. Bunch of people trapped in a movie theater for an unnamed horror screening and all hell breaks loose as shit from the movie starts happening to them. A lot of fun and ridiculous. Whole movie is on youtube.
Meet The Feebles - One of those movies I've been wanting to see and just never did or didn't have a way. Its now also in full on youtube. Peter Jackson before he did King Kong and Lord of the Rings as well as before Bad Taste and Dead Alive. All puppets putting together a stage show much like the puppets...except involving a lot of drugs, sex, cursing, and all sorts of depravity. Final 10 minutes is the fucking best. The movie starts with a Walrus having sex with a cat.
Insidious 2 - Rarely watch new horror...because I'm a pretentious dickhead. But this fucking ruled. Never saw the first one and was told it didn't matter and that this one was better, anyway. I'll probably see the first one eventually. The movie gets right into the horror with little build, I'm a fan of this. Actually scary, cool story, glad I got talked into watching this. On netflix.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - Seen this one hundred times but it was on demand so why the f not? Chop Top is possibly my favorite movie character ever, Stretch is a babe, and the whole movie is just chaos and gore. Perfect for the season.
Planning on watching Cabin in the Woods (never seen), Halloween 3, going to a 24 hour horror marathon this Saturday in Philly. Recommend more...preferably on netflix or free on youtube.

Cabin in the woods was great, but it's more of a "fun" horror movie. You'll see what I mean after you've watched it

Me and Chris have been watching a few horror movies to celebrate the season. Tried to keep it new but we've stuck a few classics in there.
The Conjuring - Honestly one of my favorite newer horror movies. Straight up throwback to the '70s. Good scares, none of that jumpy shit.
The Thing - classic. love them Johnny C synth soundtracks.
Ju-On - Lots of creepy, claustrophobic vibes, especially since it mostly takes place in one, small Japanese house. Hasn't aged excellently, but it's definitely still scary. The plotline isn't really resolved at the end, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense until the end either.
Started watching Cabin in The Woods, it was pretty weird/attempted to be funny when it wasn't, but I'm interested in finishing it.
There are probably more I'm forgetting.

I really enjoyed The Cabin in the Woods. Its got its campy feel to it that new horror really skips out on. Loved all the references to classic horror movies in there, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, The Blob, etc. Some of the comedy falls a little flat but some of it was great, I thought. The part where the two directors are on the phone with the creepy gas station attendant was so funny to me, though I can see why people wouldn't find it funny.
Is Ju-On on netflix? I've been meaning to see that. I realized last night that CHUD and The Stuff are both on netflix. Haven't seen CHUD since I was a kid so I may watch that tonight. I think I watched The Stuff sometime last year but I'll probably try to get that in in the next week as well.

Jeff you ever look at this Reddit page? I don't look at anything else on Reddit but somebody showed me this and I find a lot of really weirder obscure horror on there: www.reddit.com/r/fullmoviesonyoutubeI think I've been subconsciously doing this myself, the whole horror movie bit. Recent Netflixes: The Initiation House of Whipcord Mountaintop Motel Massacre Creepshow 2 (classic) And on Hulu (we have Hulu+, just FYI) I went ape shit with the older Japanese ghost stories (real good stuff), and some of the newer stuff. What I've been watching over there thanks to the Criterion Collection and "Huluween": Onibaba Kuroneko House (Japanese movie) Cold Fish (this one was FUCKED, I just watched it yesterday) Basket Case 2 Hobgoblins Deep Crimson The Vanishing Cronos And I honestly forget what else right now, but I'll remember. Also gonna be going to Brooklyn a week from tonight to see Blood Theater at the Spectacle Theatre. Same dude who did Hobgoblins.

Actually I just realized one of my favorite anthology style films growing up is over on that Reddit page, The Willies. My brother and I loved that movie as kids, definitely check it out if you haven't.

I still don't know any college kids who look that old though. Yeah, Ju-On is on Netflix. For some reason, however, Ringu is nowhere to be found unless you pirate it. It's a lot better/creepier IMO, but they are both pretty similar movies with similar vibes.

I watched Insidious 2 because of Jeff's recommendation and I was not disappointed. I thought the first one was brilliant and I am the sequel delivered as well.
I back The Conjuring too, another solid current horror flick.
My contribution to this thread are these....
Rosemary's Baby Dracula (1931) The Exorcist The Lost Boys Night of the Living Dead The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Omen Salem's Lot

2/3rds of Fulci's "Gates of Hell" trilogy are up on Hulu, too. The Beyond and House by the Cemetary.

Just saw The Taking of Deborah Logan last night. It's an indie movie on Netflix, but it's fucking phenomenal. Possession story meets fake documentary/found footage kind of thing as usual, but it's done extremely well. It's a gem that I think a lot of you will get a kick out of.

Watched Ringu last night with Chris after the show. It was really good. It plays with your anticipation a lot and makes you more scared of it than it really merits, which I think is great. Although, it is more of like a mystery or thriller than a horror movie. It still has its creepy parts. I've never seen the US version, but I'm sure it doesn't stack up(though I do know the second one was made by the same director as the original Japanese one).

Review of everything I saw at Exhumed's 24 hour horrorthon, which by the way, I loved and will be going back every year.
The Keep - Weird sci fi movie that I didn't fully understand. People loved it, it was ok but slow. Seemed to be a bizarre story of god vs the devil vs the nazis? Looked amazing and all, but slow and a weird way to kick off a 24 hour marathon.
Black Magic - Film from Hong Kong about a sorcerer who gets paid to do spells, mostly love and death. A lot of hilarious scenes both intentional and unintentional, intense scenes of the good and bad sorcerer battling with magic, a guard dog who just looks happy the whole time, great nudity, etc. A lot of fun, try to see this.
Godzilla's Revenge - So dumb but so funny. It features Godzilla's goofy son who has a bully and a human friend who also has a bully. The movie is basically Godzilla trying to teach his dumb son how to stand up for himself. Very after school special. Worth seeing if you like Godzilla and/or goofy shit.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 - I actually never saw this one. I liked it a lot more than I expected but its no TCM 2. Its basically more of the stuff from the first two. Definitely good and surprised I hadn't checked it out earlier.
Blue Monkey - Super sci fi influenced horror about a parasite that grows into a giant and takes over and terrorizes an entire hospital. Really fucking cool. The name of the movie is a weird choice, there is no blue monkey and its taken from a bunch of kids with cancer who are talking about what it might be and one suggests it might be a blue monkey. The cancer kids are also adorable. Definitely see this.
Pet Sematary - If you're reading these reviews you already know and love it. Awesome to see in 35mm on a big screen.
Gate 2 - I had no idea there even was a Gate 2. All based around the nerd from the first one. Not nearly as good, but it is a lot of fun. Definitely intentional comedic parts that are spot on. There is a literal shit monster at one point.
Last House on Dead End Street - Never saw this. Super gory exploitation movie from the 70s. Not for the faint of heart or easily disturbed. The basic story is a guy gets out of jail and to make money he begins making snuff films. The rest of the movie is him making snuff films that involve but are not limited to: hacking off limbs but using smelling salt to keep the person awake, straight up strangling to death, a man felating (sp?) a deer hoof, nudity, decapitation, etc. No comedic moments in this. I loved it, but its definitely not for everyone. Also on youtube for free, I think.
Bog - 1970s creature feature where the entire cast seemed to be over 50. Started cool and then got real boring and stupid. There is a hilarious "sex" scene between two of the people...keep in mind I said everyone is over 50. The scene is basically just the most awkward make out scene of all time. I fell asleep for like 15 minutes but I'm pretty sure you don't see the lake monster until the very end. Dumb.
Five more to go. To be continued.

Went to see Movie House Massacre AKA Blood Theater last week at Spectacle Theater. Ridiculous, great slasher from the guy who did Hobgoblins.
Also on Hulu+ in the Criterion Collection worth checking out is Genocide, a Japanese movie from the 60's about all the bugs on earth going crazy.
