Preskool Dropouts- Last minute replacement for Jock’s Blood, opened the show up, kinda straightforward but had a couple of catchy riffs. Didn’t get a lot of love but they were a decent opener. Would peep their demo.
MFP- Also a last minute add, unannounced. I never really cared for this band but they’re not completely terrible either. More of a stomp vibe, one song turned the place up a little bit.
Moron- Riffy kinda rock n’ rolly hardcore but with that Boston stomp edge (but they’re from Western Mass). Kinda fun to watch the guitarist and bassist riff, definitely as close to “tech” as this show got.
Oblivionation- A lot of technical difficulties, short set but good faster songs. I’d like to see them without their guitar cab malfunctioning
Peacebreakers- Short set, maybe about 8 songs (which for them is barely over 10 minutes). Busted a stage-dive during “Contrarian”, wish they’d played “I Don’t Like the Looks of You” but it was kinda cool that they left the people wanting more
Waste Management- Opened with a cover I didn’t recognize, then straight into Dead Weight. Place was a fucking warzone for them, there were at least two moments where I tried to mosh and got shut the fuck down like there was a bouncer standing there going “yo…we at capacity”. Covered United Races and kids lost their minds. Fun set.
Boston Strangler- Opened with Outcast and I immediately stage-dove and took out like fucking everyone (I should lose some weight haha) then just got up and moshed to what was left of the intro. Good mix of Outcast demo and the two LPs on the setlist, even one song off The Stomp-I-Lation but I wish it had been “The Long Goodbye” instead of “Show of Force”. Closing with “Slow Burn” was a BOSS move, that break at the end is fucking sick.
All in all, solid gig, copped the Stomp-I-Lation tape, very glad I moshed at The Acheron without breaking my fucking arm again haha
