Nothing? Well OK ill talk to myself
day 1: missed stag party and the banner, didnt watch old wounds
was never big on NMB and it sounded like mud so i caught up with people MOUTHPIECE. havent seen them since the 2000 reunions i think. was so psyched. started out a little tame but they sounded great and eventually crowd got going during what remains. great energy from the whole band, small stage was perfect for them. played the hits, ended with True till death. loved this set, the beginning of losing my voice
FTLO/Strength 691 - Damn. sounded HUGE. one of the few bands that sounded great all weekend. FTLO was heavy and tight as hell, and the mini strength set was great. No More Pain is an all time great NJHC song. great to see old dudes going off. Clay moshing in a district 9 shirt in 2015 is a highlight of my life
Didnt watch bigwig Indecision - has this band ever played a bad set? Again, maybe it was just the heavier bands sounded better, but they also sounded HUGE. great set list, great crowd reaction, could watch them all the time
Grade - im only familiar with Under the Radar but id call it a guilty pleasure and they played mostly that era stuff so i enjoyed it. couldnt get close to see what was going on so just kinda listened from the side
Sheer Terror - yeah i dunno, something was just off. crowd seemed tame, to me paulie's banter was pretty miss (minus the tim shaw/golden yoga mat thing), played a good set list but i just wasnt feeling it i guess.
Kill Your Idols - i mean, my favorite punk band ever. Played a great and diverse set list compared to other of their reunion sets, chesterfield into i told you so was the highlight for me, i mean its KYI of course i had a great time and totally blew my voice by the end of this set. Glad to hear the FCTC intro thrown in again, that is a perfect riff. wish stuck in a rut was played, but fucking Remain was wonderful. This band will always remind me of NJ and my friends.
Day 2 got there early cuz wanted to get parking not in the mud. stood outside for a while before they let people in and it was cold and stupid. Had good donuts at Broad St Dough Co. in Ocean
Full Speed Ahead - i love this band, one of NJs most under appreciated treasures. opened the day and not much of a reaction except for a few songs but were tight and still very good. One of my fondest memories of NJHC was their set at the matt leveton benefit. First time really seeing people go off hard for a more punk hc band then say like fury or something. it was great and ill always love them
didnt watch Shai Hulud. Dont care
45 Revolutions - was told/hinted at that it was mike judge + others doing judge songs and covers. I mean, i guess it was, but it was like mostly older punk/oi stuff and they played well but didnt hold my attention for a whole set. they also threw in break down the walls though which was cool.
Farside/Nora - Not the biggest farside fan compared to friends of mine who were salivating at the thought of this set but it was cool that this happened and how excited everyone was. Dan and Kwame did a great job. again, like most other big stage bands the sounded was hurting. Didn't watch nora
Ensign - god was i looking forward to this. up there with KYI in influence, impact, and importance to my life. Going to shows in the late 90s in nj this band was everything. Tim and Nate were always so cool, inviting, and friendly to younger kids like myself and i will never forget that. Direction and Cast the first stone are 2 of my favorite LPs ever. I know they still play occasionally and to most it doesnt seem like a big deal but I was expecting big things from this set and i got it. the older contingent and the younger both went off. Great set list of first 2 LP stuff. so emotional. Nate's speech and playin some songs got even most a little misty eyed. They were beyond tight, the crowd was everything i remember from the late 90s, and covered OUTBURST which was amazing and then 1 of the 2 good Unbroken songs. I loved this set. I love ensign
After ensign Pettibon and others got up to do an Undertow set. I know people were insanely psyched. to be honest i had never listened to them and caught up with people during this. everyone told me i was dumb for doing so and that it was amazing. Maybe ill check them out one day
FLOORPUNCH was next on the big stage. you could tell a ton of people were here just for them that i didnt see at all during other sets. and as expected they got the biggest reaction of the weekend. At first I was bummed on their set list but it was still great. No intro is a bummer. but they were tight and the crowd went bananas. Intro-ed with YOT take a stand which was surprising. Was hoping for good stories on the FP ensign football game or something nostalgic but no dice. Closed with the posers favorite Let it ride. while not my favorite FP set they were still tight and awesome and got a bananas reaction
PURPOSE - jesus. I knew i was going to enjoy this. This band was always something god damned special but seemed to just slip under the rug. Never were big. never cared. always played as hard as they could with more passion than almost any band I had ever seen. And this set was no different. People were so happy this took place. People lost it. Played a great mix of songs from all their releases and everyone was smiling from ear to ear the whole time. Played "newer" stuff first, then switched bassists and chris oliver got up, and then played whats in worth/LP era stuff. it was so fucking fun. everyone just hugging and screaming their lungs out.
Killing Time... Ugh. One of the best NYHC ever no doubt. But a mix of bad sound and not practicing made for one of the worst sets ive ever seen. did they fuck up EVERY song? Maybe. did they try and play Wall of Hate FOUR times? Maybe. it was embarrasing. I left.
Endeavor - hadnt seen them since they played that court tavern show with lifetime a while ago. was that the last time they played? I dunno. Mike has some of the most vicious vocals of all time. Great interesting raging heavy thought provoking hardcore. Opened with kill traitors and the crowd was Shockingly dull for the majority of the set. I dont know why. But they were great, and played incentive, which i think is one of the greatest HC songs of all time.
Sick of it all - i mean obviously the hardest working hc band of all time, they are a professional band and know how to play great every time and work a crowd. am i the biggest fan? nah. but i love what they do and respect the hell out of them and people loved it. GI joe headstomp is one of the hardest of all time though and was psyched they played that
Cro Mags - showed up late or just took forever to set up but they place surprisngly emptied out a little bit. again suffered from bad sound on stage/off timing but they were good obviously like they always are, i jsut think everyone was beyond tired at this point. Still, the fucking cro mags
This was great. Everyone who had a hand in this is great. Viva Nate

No care about Nora/shai hulud? What?
Did you purposefully not review breakdown? Haha
I sat outside the last endeavor show with lifetime at the court tavern because it was a week before my 21st birthday I was sad

That god damned Endeavor set seemingly made Mike Dailey and I so happy. but it also made me cry a little bit at one point, and may have been a big catalyst and force in me making some changes in my life really soon.

Glad the shows went well! I wish I wasnt so hungover on sunday, showed up late and caught floorpunch, thought they sounded good. Heard the purpose play over my shoulder which was cool, Thought killing time played the first two tracks cool and then it was rough. I was so tired that I left.
Geoff wish I saw you for more then a second but it was cool to see so many random people in the place. Also real weird to me that it took a bunch of old bands playing to remind half hte population of people that used to frequent hardcore shows in nj that hardcore and punk are still cool and seeing bands play live is fun.

Putting this thing together wasn't at all easy and seeing people say what a good time they had has made it all worthwhile.
My favorite set of the weekend was Grade, closely followed by Endeavor. FTLO was also pretty bonkers.
Also hats off to the dudes who did the Undertow set, they pulled it together super fast and with not much chance to practice, but still killed it.

Yo I was talkin to Nihal after Killing Time, he put it well. He said something like "at least it was an experience, something to witness" haha I agree. although they weren't their best I don't give a shit, Brightside and Telltale were fuckin flawless. The rest had some hiccups but bands have issues, everyone on here who at least plays in a band knows what that's like. I'm glad I saw them one way or the other. I just wish Anthony put the mic in the crowd when he got lost cause we coulda helped him out!
I'm bummed I missed the first day, but glad I got to see some of it at all. My ride back to NYC was leaving so only caught half of the Cro-Mag set but everything all day was awesome. Good event, hope it really raised some good money.
