Let's talk about this band for a minute. They really defined an awesome period in my life. With the exception of KYI, I don't think I ever had as much fun seeing a band as I did this one. I now regret disregarding the first two records when they came out, and although I later grew to like them, nothing will top Witness for me. That record blew my fucking mind. I remember seeing them in Manasquan right around the time of that record coming out. Perfect set. Saw them literally 25 times after that, even going as far as driving to Iowa for their last show ever. My favorite band in the last few years, easily. I even really liked Midnight In America. Whatever, fuck you.

i've been on a huge witness kick the last month. my love my way, too. "yesterday's trash" was so completely underrated. seeing them live was an addictive experience, which is why i ended up having seen them in eight different US states.
years later, i'm still in awe of the fact that this was a band who you couldn't compare to anyone. you couldn't even say "they sound like _____ crossed with _____" or "they sound like if _____ was going for a more 90s vibe" or something like that. what they did was entirely their own, and i think it's something that will be appreciated for decades to come.
even though midnight in america doesn't have the same effect on me that their previous records did, i really admire their decision to make that record and go the way they did as a band. they could've gone on bigger tours and made themselves some decent money, and i don't think anyone would've liked them less for it. but they didn't. they still played basements, and they still set aside a few minutes in every set, no matter how big or small the venue, to let people announce upcoming punk/hardcore shows. i have the utmost respect for anyone who recognizes their influence and chooses to use it for something like that.

This was my gateway to hardcore, and they will always hold a special place in my heart.
I started listening to them in 7th grade because I hung out with Chris and we both liked punk. Unfortunately, I didn't have a sister who went out with the singer from Chokepoint, so I never got the chance/a ride to go see them.

Band ruled. Jake rules for putting on the 'secret' MLIW/Blacklisted show and inviting me. Then he let me crash at his place with MLIW. Watching Tyler puke into a pizza box summed up the night perfectly. Seeing them in a bunch of states and a bunch of places will never be forgotten. Band was rightfully loved in NJ.

One of the worst days of my life was when I couldn't find my phone charger so my phone was dead. The next day on the internet there are reviews for a secret Blacklisted/MLIW show and when I talked to Jake he said he kept calling me but my phone was off.
Their first NJ show was awesome. I remember seeing they were on some show I was going to so I checked them out online. The one mp3 I heard (Destination) blew me away and I listened to it so much by the time of the show I knew all the words and was one of the three kids singing along. Band killed.

the first time i heard witness i really liked it because it reminded me of majority rule blended with the vocals of undertow.
i suppose i was a bit confused because MLIW had usually been lumped in with other B9 style hardcore bands. i couldn't really picture beefy hardcore dudes spin kicking and windmilling to these slow melodic jams. regardless, the songs were inspiring.

One of the best live bands I have ever seen. The first 7" is still my favorite thing they did. Saw them for the first time in a basement in Indiana when Tear It Up played with them on tour. Got to see them in a bunch of different random places (most random being Winnipeg, Canada) Forward To Death played with them a bunch too. Always rad dudes. Always enjoyed chilling with them. Good times.

Love this band, their name caught my attention at first and the music and emotion they put into blew me away. Still does too.

the first time I saw them was with bane in 2004 or 2005 right after new years day and i had a fever the whole time and stood int he back, they played and i thought they sucked cause i was being a cocksucker. i heard the first few songs off of witness when they put them up and got the record, someone sent me the first one and i fell in love. glad i got to see them so many times, they were always on point live and had some serious heart in their songs. i'm not ready still gives me chills

The "secret" show with Blacklisted remains of the best shows I've been to in NB. First two LPs are great, too bad my old roommate killed them for me by listening to them ad nauseum. Maybe it's time for a revisit.

They played a show at BAC and I remember someone, I think Joey, bringing them a cardboard box of booze while they played. There was a water bottle of vodka in there and Jeff unknowingly tried to give some kids up front "water". Amazing faces ensued. That band liked to partyyyyyy.

I refused to listen to them after their last nj show because I would just get really angry that I'd never see them play again. Then I got a MLIW tattoo. My first tattoo actually.
